Looking For A Complete Process For How to Grow Grapes and Make Amazing Wine, Even If You're a Total Beginner?

Growing grapes and making wine has been chronicled over the ages almost as long as humans themselves have been around. According to Wikipedia, growing grapes goes all the way back to the Neolithic period around 9500 BC. The Greeks and Romans both made significant progress with how to grow grapes. Through a variety of ways, over time the winemaking process found its way all over the world. Today, growing grapes and making wine continues to be a passion for many, a hobby for some and a major industry in many economies. For many people enjoying wine on a daily basis is commonplace. However, most people give little thought as to how the wine they are drinking got in to the bottle! What they are enjoying is the result of continual refinement of the winemaking process over centuries.

A good starting point for those considering to learn how to grow grapes is to understand that there are basically two varieties of grapes; the European grape varieties and the hybrids. In areas like California, there are mainly European varieties.  Whereas in areas where the growing season is short hybrid grape varieties are the choice.  A key point about how to grow grapes is that it will take about three years before you get grapes from your vineyard to use to make wine. But there is plenty to do with your vineyard during that time. Providing a proper growing site with plenty of sun and, believe it or not, nutrient poor soil. Nutrient poor soil causes the vines to  be streesed and yeild smaller grapes. These smaller grapes are preferred because of the richness of color and flavor they provide. To get to that point you will need to grow your vines, prune them correctly, and keep weeds and pests under control.

After you have applied all the important beginning steps of how to grow grapes you will hopefully be presented with a nicely ripened, disease free harvest. Your are now ready to head to the actual winemaking process. There are several parts to the process including chemicals to deal with acidity, yeast for fermentation, and containers for aging to name a few. It is important to use products that are specific to making wine. You will likely do some experimenting to find the taste you favor, that's part of the fun of learning how to grow grapes and make your own wine.
